How Long Will My SeaSucker Hold?Updated a month ago
There’s no fixed time limit for how long a vacuum mount will hold — it depends on several factors, including the surface it’s attached to, the condition of the mount, the load applied, and more.
Vacuum mounts are designed for smooth, flat surfaces — they were originally made to carry large sheets of glass and other solid materials. Clean surfaces and clean SeaSuckers are key to maximizing hold time.
If a mount begins to lose vacuum, it will alert you before detaching. The vacuum pump’s plunger will extend from the cylinder as pressure drops. When you see the orange indicator band, that’s your cue to re-pump the SeaSucker to restore full strength.
For car racks, we recommend checking your SeaSucker before driving and each time you stop for gas, food, or a break.
Seeing the orange band doesn’t mean your SeaSucker is defective — it simply means it needs a quick re-pump to stay secure.
